in the early 1930s from the largest oil field inside U.S. boundaries. Here, visitors
see the people, their towns, their personal habits, their tools and their pastimes-all
colorfully depicted in dioramas, movies, sound presentations and actual antiques
donated by East Texas citizens.
Longview Museum of Fine Arts’ Permanent Collection consists of nearly 300 pieces
of art work including drawings, intaglio, paintings, photographs, potter, prints,
sculpture, woodblock and works-on-paper.
The historic Texas and Pacific Depot is a favorite destination for rail fans of all
ages. Many schools, organizations, and church groups participate in our interpretive
tours. A museum representative greets your group upon your arrival, and friendly,
knowledgeable guides explain artifacts and weave interesting anecdotes into the
story of Marshall and the Texas Pacific Railway.
Texas Country Music Hall of Fame was initiated in 1998 to celebrate the contribution
of Texans to the country music profession. The project highlights those individuals,
living or dead, who are recognized nationally as outstanding in their field.
Gregg County Historical Museum is a precious gem in the heart of downtown Longview.
The institution and the people who are committed to its continued success have become
woven into the fabric of the community. It houses both extensive Caddo Indian and
Military collections.
